I cried when I saw him singing and dancing, laughing on stage in the junior infants xmas panto… it was just amazing the transformation in him, due to the tailored learning program Maureen oversaw with the home tutor, I think he finally learned how to have fun, and how to keep it going, using words, he had never had until Maureen

Testimonials have been solicited from past clients.

“Maureen was our son’s Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) Program Supervisor for 3 years and was, quite simply, a very special person to work with.  Maureen led a team of therapists and we were extremely grateful for the outstanding results that she and her team achieved.

Maureen provided amazing guidance and support and was always available to answer our questions and provide comfort and inspiration, in a reasoned and calm, empathetic manner.  She has a fantastic rapport with children and our son looked forward to every session with her, often being disappointed when it ended but always looking forward to the next one.

We unreservedly recommend Maureen as she is a highly skilled, dependable, enthusiastic, caring individual who has achieved incredible results for our son and brought enormous joy to our family.  We will be forever grateful for all that she has done for us and will always
look back fondly to the time when we were fortunate enough to have Maureen in our lives.”

“Maureen began working with our son shortly after he was diagnosed with ASD at the age of 2 and a half. Maureen took complete ownership of designing a detailed programme for pur son to work on with both his family as well as his home tutor. She listened intently to us as parents when we voiced what we felt were our son’s greatest areas of need and delivered a thorough programme to respond to all of these concerns.

Maureen was always so easy to deal with, she is naturally kind and warm which are great traits to have when working with children. She is so organised and knowledgeable in the area of behaviour management and child development. Maureen addressed and conquered so many obstacles in our son’s development that I never thought would be possible. I couldn’t recommend Maureen enough and couldn’t thank Maureen enough for all she did for our son and our family.”

“Maureen began working with my son from when he was diagnosed with ASD at the age of two until he turned 4, a significant period in a toddler’s life. At two, my son had virtually no skills: he did not play with toys, did not communicate, had very limited interests, and hardly smiled. Through ABA my son was taught how to learn. Upon acquiring the skills to learn, Maureen put together programs to teach him social interaction, communication using PECS, play skills, motor skills, self-care skills, and much more.

He is four years old now and is a very happy, cheeky, and friendly boy who is full of character. The various play skills that he has learnt have enabled him to explore many toys that he would not have known. how to manipulate and has started to enjoy different games and activities. Bringing up a child with special needs can be a daunting task and the parent often feels lost and frustrated with everyday challenges, for example, toilet training. However, I always felt reassured when talking with Maureen as she listens and has a way of explaining things so it’s easy to understand; she would always consider inputs and concerns from parents and identify the needs to individualise programs to help the child be most successful. The road towards achieving a goal is very often rocky, but Maureen has always been there to work with the parents and problem solve every step of the way and we always get there in the end.”

“Maureen was my son’s therapist for several years and from the minute she walked into the room, my son was comfortable and happy with her, I trust my son’s judgement of people and it was obvious that he trusted her.Over the years that Maureen was delivering my son’s program, she was innovative, showed initiative, was able to think around some very unusual behaviours and always with a smile and compassion, both for my son and myself.

I would and have recommended Maureen as I couldn’t ask for a better therapist and for a child to have Maureen developing and running their program, I believe that child will have a program that is best suited to that child, will help them develop positively and have fun in the process. I am more than happy to talk to anyone that might have any questions as I can’t put it down in words how much I appreciated Maureen and how happy I was to have her assisting my son, in the time that she worked with him, he made more gains than he
had in the previous 3 years.”

Maureen helped me go from 4 hours sleep a night to a full 10 hours in a short few months, with easy to follow guidelines.

“Maureen started to work with our family when our son who was then 3 years old experienced speech and language and overall development delay issues. She carefully guided and supported us through such a difficult time by both advising us of the appropriate steps to follow in the public health system and by commencing behavioural analysis immediately.  She carried out a detailed assessment of our sons development age and used this knowledge to devise personal development programmes for our son It is fair to say that she had provided our son with the chance to reach his full potential in all aspects of his development. I cannot recommend Maureen highly enough.”

“I have no hesitation recommending Maureen. Her calm, pragmatic approach, offered hope and reassurance, when it was difficult to find any professionals in limerick or cork, who could limit self-injury, improve sleep and limit dangerous impulsive behaviours. Thankfully, Maureen has seen it all before and brings calm into the chaos. After my son was excluded from pre-school and the home tutor quit due to hyperkinetic behaviour, and toileting issues, age 3, Maureen saw a vision of the future for my child, that kept me going when no one else did. There was a time my son had no problem flinging dirty nappies at the wall, hitting visitors, and other things. I was mortified…dying of embarrassment, it’s not how I imagined parenting to be. When I look back on the toddler years it was chaos but somehow, Maureen restored calm. It took a few visits, but I was willing to do what it took and we got there. He was playing and having fun more than ever and learning at the same time…win-win..

If your child isn’t communicating or pointing or reaching developmental milestones at 12 months, phone Maureen, my only regret is that my son was 3 when he started with Maureen, and all the behaviours like headbanging and lack of speech had just gotten worse. Wait and see, is not good advice. I had wasted a small fortune on ineffective therapies before I met Maureen. Maureen taught my son to ask for what he wanted, it reduced frustration and tantrums almost immediately. I cried when I saw him singing and dancing, laughing on stage in the junior infants xmas panto….it was just amazing the transformation in him, due to the tailored learning program Maureen oversaw with the home tutor, I think he finally learned how to have fun, and how to keep it going, using words, he had never had until Maureen.”

“When I think back on the behavior of the child that I was describing to Maureen during our first phone call I honestly can’t believe it’s the same happy little boy we have now.  We were really struggling as parents and as a family because we didn’t understand our son. While he was a very bright and articulate boy who got good grades at school he couldn’t follow simple instructions and would regularly have severe meltdowns. Every day was a battle, from getting him dressed to eating his breakfast, the car journey to school, both we as his parents and he were exhausted before the day had begun.  We were in the process of waiting for his AON but honestly felt that we were in such a state of crisis that we needed help urgently as he was getting bigger and stronger and it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep myself and my other children safe when he lost control.

From our very first phone call with Maureen I felt such a sense of “finally, someone who will listen, I mean really listen to my concerns”  in my heart I knew it wasn’t bad “behaviour”,  I knew that he was struggling but I couldn’t understand what the triggers were.  Maureen took the time to hear all of my concerns and multiple examples of challenges that we faced on a daily basis.  While as a family we were in a total fog and didn;t know which way to turn after a few weeks of observation and feedback,  Maureen had been able to pinpoint what the triggers were for our child, what was causing him to explode and how to help him initially avoid and then deal with those situations.

Putting systems in place and making small changes to routine seemed like a lot of work at the beginning but it has become second nature to us now and all the little things that we started to do have now become habit for him too.  It did require patience and faith at the beginning, we chose to really commit to Maureen’s process and take the time to observe and document as much as we could and honestly it has made such an enormous difference to all our lives.  He is now such a happy boy and while he still struggles in certain situations he has learned to excuse/remove himself so he can have some quiet time to relax for a while before he re-engages.  I am so thankful that we were put in touch with Maureen, she was such an enormous help to us and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

Supervision Testimonials

“Maureen was my supervisor for a 5 year period. During that time, Maureen’s approach was patient, non-judgmental and supportive. Her wealth of knowledge and professionalism shined through in the feedback and learning opportunities that she presented to me. Maureen used clear language to educate and support me in areas of professional development and took an approach that went at my speed and pace on learning. I highly recommend Maureen as a Supervisor.

Maureen demonstrated flexibility and creativity in adapting to challenges in our remote working environment and developed ingenious ways to “live” support home tutoring through video platforms. It was clear that Maureen’s approach to service delivery was very much child and family orientated and that she took an ethical and accountable approach in all areas of her work. What I loved most about Maureen was the patience, time and encouragement that she gave me which proved invaluable to me during times of doubt, when my father passed away and when I was simply unsure of the correct course of action; always encouraging and pleasant – she is just a really nice person to work with. I’m so grateful for all her help and support.”

“I would highly recommend Maureen as a supervisor! Her professional attitude shone through at all times. Her systematic, thorough approach to the task list and ability to map the task list to real-life scenarios was very helpful. Maureen provided me with the opportunity to observe many facets of a behaviour analyst’s skillset. She modelled best practice when working directly with clients, supported me to run assessments, and permitted me to observe parent training sessions. Maureen provided me with feedback; both when working with clients and on protocols and behaviour support plans that I developed. This resulted in a well-rounded supervisory experience and led to my development as a behaviour analyst. A key focus of our supervision was keeping up to date with current research and utilising this in practice. Maureen was a great source of professional support and helped me to build a network with other behaviour analysts in the area.”

As a supervisor, Maureen is a genius, even with my 25 years adult training experience, and a degree in psychology, I’ll only ever be an amateur ASD interventionist when compared to Maureen. Her bank of knowledge and professional connections allow her to treat behavioural conditions that other professionals are un-equipped to help with. I have yet to meet another professional in children’s or adults services that has the level of knowledge about behavioural interventions than she does.
