Workshop

Supporting Positive Behaviour in Early Years

Workshops are offered by Maureen Gleeson, MA, BCBA, and Lorna Barry, MSc, PhD candidate. Maureen and Lorna are behaviour consultants with over 20 years experience in early intervention settings.

The workshops are designed for early years practitioners, to help practitioners understand and manage problem behaviour in the early years environment.

The workshop is presented over three weeks to allow attendees to practice recommendations that have been provided over a series of weeks. This facilitates discussion during the workshops around settings-specific difficulties.

The core aims of the workshop series is to develop an understanding of the following:

  • Why children engage in challenging behaviour- what are they communicating?
  • How to support children to manage their behaviour- let’s build some skills!
  • How to prevent challenging behavior in the early years environment- prevention is better than intervention!
  • How can we help children change their behaviour- let’s look at our responses!
